Full Job Description

Contributes to the overall success of the Global Fixed Income Origination in the UK ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures. This role falls into scope under the Certification Regime and requires the individual to be internally 'Certified' as a significant harm function. Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
  • Responsible for supporting the senior Syndicate function in London in all aspects of pre and post new issue transaction execution, but to operate in parallel to senior colleague with autonomy in generating new issue pricing/investor reverse enquiries/transaction ideas
  • Responsible for daily/weekly market commentary
  • Build and maintain excel based databases and related material (e.g. pricing sheets)
  • Be able to execute new issue transactions without assistance
  • Compile market related research, company and industry reports, graphs and other analysis
  • Create marketing presentations (internal and external)
  • Liaise with various cross-functional groups across GBM and Scotiabank
  • Complete economic trends/event analysis
  • Understand how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Code of Conduct
  • Contributes to a high-performance environment and fosters an inclusive work environment; supporting the vison/values/business strategy for the team
  • Dimensions
  • Coordination with other GBM and Scotiabank departments for cooperation in cross sell to clients
  • Accountability to liaise with senior staff for client coverage
  • A working product knowledge, macro developments in the marketplace including: interest rate futures, IRS, CCIRS, and ILS
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment and the impact of such on the business, industry and individual
  • Effective communication skills to effectively direct people, converse globally with peers across platforms and divisions

    University Degree
  • Excellent numeric literacy

  • A strong sense of personal integrity and teamwork
  • Display a high level of energy and desire to learn new concepts
  • Prior experience in Syndication role, preferably accompanied by a Financial Institution skillset
  • Solid technical knowledge of a variety of software applications (programming skills an asset)
