Full Job Description

  • Ensuring that technical delivery on projects meets contract requirements and client expectations.
  • Working with TGE and Jacobs senior leaders to develop and implement strategy.
  • Managing key business metrics.
  • Introducing new technologies and working methods to improve work winning and operational performance.
  • Developing staff capabilities across the practice.
  • Assisting creating and delivering a robust resource management plan to support the business plan targets for the sector.
  • Supporting the sector in the delivery of key business development and operational activities.
  • Providing leadership and direction in multi-disciplinary project teams.
  • Proactive approach to career development.

    The candidate will have demonstrable experience in leading teams and work packages in the ground engineering sector either in the UK or abroad. Ideally this should cover a wide range of sectors with ground engineering experience in several or all the following areas: Energy, Nuclear, Highway, Rail, High Speed Rail, Flood, Aviation and Utilities.

  • Degree qualified BSc, BEng, MEng, MSc or higher in civil engineering, engineering geology, geoscience or similar
  • Chartered status with the Institution of Civil Engineers, The Geological Society or equivalent
  • Strong technical domain knowledge within the ground engineering market
  • Experience of managing a significant pool of resources
  • Ability to progress and manage schemes from inception to design completion
  • Industry recognised Ground Engineering professional with a wide network of contacts with Contractors, design houses, key clients and academic institutions working in the ground engineering field
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to utilise these skills as part of large multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of business development, project delivery, resource management and operations
  • Experience of critiquing and quality assuring technical documentation
  • Experience interfacing directly with clients and building lasting relationships with them
  • Commitment to professional and personal development

The role includes responsibility for leading teams and the delivery of projects, promoting strong group camaraderie and networking, maintaining staff retention, carefully managing technical risk, leveraging best technical practices, promoting quality, technology innovation, safe practice, staff development, and excellent technical delivery. Our ground engineering team work on small to large globally significant scale projects and on a wide range of technical topics including, ground investigation support, earthwork design, slope stability, foundation and retaining wall design, numerical modelling, earthworks logistics and many more. Project work is of a Geotechnical and Geological nature and encompasses all projects stages from feasibility to detailed design to construction support.
