Are you a dynamic, innovative, compassionate and committed Senior Cancer Nurse who would like to play a crucial role to lead in progressing Cancer, Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) and End of Life services throughout the North Middlesex University Hospital Trust?
This position is well suited to an individual with a broad experience in Cancer from diagnosis through to End of Life. Specialist Palliative Care and End of Life Care will not however be exclusive to Cancer. The postholder will provide strong, visible professional leadership within the organization, building robust and effective relationships with external partners and key stakeholders.
Based within the Women's, Children, Clinical Support and Cancer Division, you will work closely and collaboratively with Cancer, Specialist Palliative Care and End of Life leads to ensure strategies are in place to deliver measurable and sustainable improvement in quality and safety, in line with local, regional and National Best practice standards and drivers, and overall Trust objectives and values.

This vital post spans across the Trust as a key change agent and expert resource to all divisions., The post holder will provide strong, visible professional leadership within the organisation, building robust and effective relationships with external partners and key stakeholders.
They will be accountable for ensuring the maintenance and progression of clinical excellence in cancer, that these services are effectively coordinated, equitable, and of high quality.
The ADoN will work collaboratively with the Cancer, SPC teams and EoLC leads to ensure strategies are in place to deliver measurable and sustainable improvement in quality and safety, in line with local, regional and National best practice standards and drivers, and overall Trust objectives and values. They will also take the lead, along with the Clinical Director, for clinical governance within cancer services and Palliative Care & End of Life oversight.
After several years of ever closer working, North Mid and Royal Free London are planning to come together as one organisation to enable them to go further and faster in improving services for patients and the health of the local community than they can achieve separately. The merger of North Mid into the RFL group is currently expected to take place on 1 January 2025, subject to NHS England and Secretary of State approval.

Take a tour of our hospital here, · Provide effective professional leadership to senior cancer AHPs and support teams, motivating teams across the Trust in the development of roles and services for patients with cancer, and other potentially life limiting conditions.
· Advise and liaise across Divisions regarding the developments and implementation of Trust priorities for cancer, in accordance with the agreed locality and National standards
· Advise and liaise across divisions regarding developments and implementation of local and national priorities for palliative care and end of life.
· Communicate highly complex, sensitive and occasionally contentious issues, with patients/carers and staff. Effectively manage and support those affected when discussing emotive and difficult issues, at personal levels, and for staff, also professional levels
· Work alongside and support the Lead Cancer Nurses in NCL with new initiatives including personalized, patient experience, and CNS development.
· Work with patients and user groups in the locality, encouraging patients to be actively involved in developing services
· Develop and sustain local networks and partnerships both within and outside the organisation, to ensure partnership working, and delivery of Trust and local health objectives.
· Establish strong partnerships with colleagues in primary care, and with the voluntary agencies for Cancer, to improve continuity of care and access to specialist advice at all levels
· Promote NMUH cancer strategies and innovations, by presenting at local and national conferences, producing publications, and supporting teams to do the same, · Review services and resources needed for cancer developments, in conjunction with the Lead Cancer Manager, Clinical Director and other Divisional managers as appropriate. This will also be required for palliative care and end of life.
· Analyse, interpret and present to wider management teams, activity data and trends, (locally and nationally reported, including SSQD), to inform options for service development, and agree key KPIs with the Trust and Commissioners
· Analyse the data from national surveys for cancer (CPES) and End of Life (NACEL), forming an action plan for improvement.
· Take decisive and timely action to address areas of poor performance, under-achievement, and risk
· Be involved in cancer, palliative care and end of life related complaints and queries. Compile evidence and provide accurate and timely responses
