Full Job Description

Due to the promotion of the current post holder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic pharmacy professional to lead on our patient focussed services.

You will be responsible for leadership, development, operational delivery and service evaluation in these services: clinical pharmacy; education, training and workforce development; patient safety and quality; medicines information; and medicines commissioning.

You will work closely with Director of Pharmacy and the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Patient Services in the overall delivery of medicines optimisation and pharmacy services, in addition to senior clinicians, nurses, allied health professionals, managers and executives both within and outside of the Trust.

Supporting the Trusts aim of striving for excellence and to achieve excellent patient experience each and every time, you will contribute to the implementation of the Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services strategy, working with other leaders in your teams to promote and evaluate new service models to benefit patient care and experience. You must be highly experienced at a senior management level with a comprehensive understanding of systems relevant to the practice of hospital pharmacy. You will possess business planning and project management skills. As a natural motivator of staff, you will have the drive to innovate, implementing and evaluating new ways of working.,

  • To work with the Director of Pharmacy to ensure the Trust-wide delivery of safe, effective and efficient Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services to patients and other service users in the Trust.

  • As a member of the Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services Senior Leadership Team, to assist in leading the development of Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services throughout the Trust.

  • To manage Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services staff throughout the Trust who are involved in providing services or supporting projects within the areas of responsibility of the Associate Director of Pharmacy, Patient Care.

  • To work with the Director of Pharmacy in ensuring objectives are met for Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services.

  • The Associate Director of Pharmacy, Patient Care will be responsible for the following areas of the Medicines Optimisation & Pharmacy Services:

  • o Clinical Pharmacy;
    o Patient Safety and Quality;
    o Medicines commissioning;
    o Medicines Information;
    o Education, training and workforce development;
    oProfessional secretary to the Medicines Optimisation Group.
