The Associate Director, Procurement Commercial Distribution is responsible for development of robust fit-for-purpose global category strategies, defining buying channels, purchasing policies, and managing supplier relationships .

  • E xpected to have deep category expertise & knowledge which can be leveraged to advise business stakeholders.
  • Effective coordination with respective business partners will be critical to ensure cross-team synergies.
  • Responsible for overseeing the category strategy's execution, coordinating with market teams to ensure strategies are relevant and enable access to medicines and revenues across Local Representatives markets.
  • Drive Supplier Relationship Management processes, procedures, supplier and category segmentation, metrics/KPI development and application
  • Understand the product lifecycle process, impact on the organization (both short and long term) and have knowledge of the global value chain to provide strategic industry insights and identify potential opportunities that ultimately lead to a competitive advantage.
  • Facilitate continuous improvement and drive innovation that will enable the business to achieve its strategic objectives., Develop robust category strategies that enable growth and access across key markets
  • Develop a fit-for-purpose category strategies that enables BMS access and growth within Local Representatives markets
  • Understand and capture business plans and budgets which are needed to develop robust, fit for purpose category strategies
  • Drive strong coordination with business partners to define buying channels and purchasing policies
  • Leverage deep category knowledge and external market ecosystems to develop fit-for-purpose global category strategies that can meet regional and local needs
  • Lead and support major category initiatives within a multi-year plan including end to end process optimization, make / buy analysis and recommendations within a spend category and within a major business area
  • Provide Industry and Category Expertise to build robust Category Strategies & Plans that evolve and align with the product lifecycle
  • Develop implementation plans to activate strategies across regions, markets, and business units
  • Bring external benchmarks, KPIs, and thought leadership to optimize category strategies
  • Execute supplier relationship management and drive supplier performance
  • Oversee the rationalization and selection of suppliers that meet business requirements at the optimal total cost, with preferred supplier identification
  • Coordinate with Global Business Solution Partners to understand supplier performance across business units. Leverage inputs to effectively manage supplier relationships across the business insights and commercial distribution categories
  • Manage the category supply base, preferred suppliers, and track supplier performance (KPIs, SLA tracking)
  • Identify, build, and maintain mutually beneficial relationships, partnerships, and alliances with select suppliers
  • Manage escalations with respective business partners and coordinate with suppliers on behalf of the business to develop solutions or performance improvement plans
  • Build and continuously improve the Commercial procurement capability
  • Train and develop procurement category management talent
  • Maximize leverage of 'trapped capacity' across categories as they go through maturity cycles (thoughtfully shift resources / talent across categories to maximize leverage and promote learning)
  • Encourage and champion external research, benchmarking, and involvement in professional networks as a means of strengthening capabilities via the adoption of procurement profession best practices
  • Coordinate with Global Business Solutions Partners and Market teams to drive adoption of category strategies and adhere to procurement processes that enable enterprise initiatives
  • Innovation Management
  • Foster internal and external (supplier led) innovation
  • Synchronize and oversee category management teams to execute innovation plans, display supplier capabilities, and lead innovation workshops that help solve key business problems
  • Leverage deep knowledge of business unit operations and the commercial lifecycle to continuously bring ideas and opportunities to business leaders
  • Coordinate and Synchronize with other Procurement organizations
  • Coordinate with the Procurement Centers organization to ensure category managers are aligned with the SS&P reporting mechanism, strategy, processes, policies, and digital strategy
  • Provide consistent feedback to the Centers organization on how the procurement operations organization is performing for business stakeholders

  • Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts
  • 8 plus years of business experience
  • 8 plus years of multi-disciplined procurement experience, preferably in a multinational environment
  • Pharmaceutical and/or Commercial Procurement experience
  • Experience leading and participating on cross-functional and global teams
  • Experience managing teams of senior professionals and managers and establishing performance expectations
  • Internal stakeholder management, data / information management, category management, process redesign and continuous improvement expertise, project management and performance measurement skills
  • Procurement process knowledge, contract management, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier analysis, supplier diversity, supplier management, technology utilization, strategic planning, and integrated supply chain experience, Masters or MBA
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CPM, CPSM, CPIM).
  • Demonstrated Pharmaceutical Procurement experience
  • Membership in Professional Associations, e.g. ISM
