Full Job Description

We are looking for a qualified actuary to join this growing global team of over 100 risk consultants. This role will centre on providing actuarial model-based insurance optimisation and captive optimisation advice to a wide range of corporate clients in geographies including GB, Asia Pacific and Latin America. You will be responsible for leading the delivery of outstanding client service and support for new and existing business across our range of actuarial services (pricing, capital, and reserving). The role will also include working with colleagues to generate new business. In particular, this means:

  • Representing WTW in client meetings and providing material contribution to the relationship with more than one major client.
  • Engaging with client-facing colleagues in selected geographies to identify and develop opportunities.
  • Manage complex actuarial projects - offering significant contribution to the development of new products, process improvement, and generating new revenue.
  • Manage, mentor, and be a role model for associates.
  • Range of actuarial services P&C Pricing and Optimisation
  • Lead projects to help clients to optimise their insurance strategy by ensuring that the price they pay is optimum for the level of risk being transferred.
  • Produce strategic recommendations based on model results to help clients manage their risks more effectively.
  • Reserving, Capital Modelling, Solvency II
  • Oversee / produce actuarial reserving analysis for both our corporate clients and captive insurance clients, to support annual reporting requirements.
  • Actively contribute to and lead the Actuarial Function of these Captive Insurers. Review their Solvency Capital Requirements (SCR) and Technical Provision (TPs), periodically, and produce and present Actuarial Function reports.
  • Assist in developing assumptions, and challenging them where required, to ensure a robust risk management framework.
  • Support ongoing compliance with regulations and timely completion of regulatory returns across several captive domiciles (including Dublin, Malta, etc).
  • Aside from the core activities described above, the successful candidate will also take ownership of ad-hoc projects which could include, but are not limited to:
  • Bespoke modelling.
  • Development of modelling tools.
  • Client pitches and Request for Proposals (RfPs).
  • Researching prospects and markets.
  • Manager of People:
  • Responsible for managing and developing the skills, competencies and knowledge of team members including overseeing appraisals and objective setting whilst maintaining high levels of integrity, motivation and team morale.
  • Establish an environment that promotes respect, trust and well-being for the individual employee, by ensuring that team members have the opportunity to develop and progress their career whilst ensuring that skills or knowledge gaps are met with appropriate training.
  • Work with Human Resources to recruit the accurate level of skills and proficiencies into the team, adhering to the company's inclusive and diverse recruitment procedures and best practices
  • The successful candidate will receive ongoing training and support within a stimulating, multi-disciplined team of actuaries and other risk professionals to further develop technical, commercial and management skills.

  • Qualified FIA/FFA or equivalent with demonstrable post qualified experience within the general insurance market.
  • Advanced computer modelling skills including MS Office.
  • Proficiency in one of R/R Shiny, Python, Power BI, RADAR, Igloo, and ResQ.
  • Able to demonstrate experience of building actuarial loss forecast models for non-life insurance risks such as property and liability.
  • Capital Modelling, Reserving and Solvency II experience would also be desirable.
  • This is a client-facing role, and therefore a distinct ability to communicate complex concepts and results to external and internal clients is critical.
  • Experience in preparing and presenting results and recommendations reports in clear, simple, and actionable language. Excellent PowerPoint skills and attention to detail are essential.
