Full Job Description

RPS is looking for an Associate Director Town Planner to join our National Planning & Infrastructure Team. In this key position, you'll be helping to grow and develop business and, provide mentorship to junior planners.

The Planning Team promote land and development for inclusion within Local Plans and are regularly engaged in Local Plan Examinations and the preparation and submission of strategic planning applications and appeals, often comprising residential schemes on greenfield sites. We also prepare planning applications and deliver permissions for some of the UK's most important city development and infrastructure projects, including for residential, mixed-use developments, data centres, airports, retail, logistics and other major infrastructure projects. We work with the country's other leading organisations in the development of property and infrastructure and, provide integrated services drawing on other planning, environmental and design services offered by RPS.

What you'll be doing

· Developing new client relationships and maintaining existing business

· Line managing and mentoring junior planners

· Providing input into business plans and you'll get to Chair Planning Meetings, taking a lead role in debate and contributing to discussion on operational matters

· Preparing fee proposals and providing input into tender submissions

· Preparing representations to Local Plan consultations, appearing at Local Plan Examinations and assisting with appeal co-ordination and statements of case

· Project managing small/medium & large projects including coordinating team members, project finances, overseeing the production of deliverables in line with the client's expectations and ensuring delivery is on time

With experience within this sector, you'll already be familiar with what we're looking for: RTPI accredited Honours Degree and/or Diploma or Master's Qualification, full membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute and experience of delivering consultancy to a range of clients. Good financial and project management skills are essential, as are great influencing and communication skills that enable you to build, maintain and consolidate strong working relationships with colleagues, clients and external bodies. Experience in a planning policy environment and with Local Plan work would be a benefit and/or experience in other sectors/environments, i.e. city planning or Environmental Impact Assessments would also be considered favourably., Disability Confident
