The Associate Foundation Director is an important relationship-fundraising position which will play a key role in securing significant support as part of the Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign, in combination with new and exciting initiatives, as we enter the next phase this exciting new campaign.

You will be expected to generate significant funds for the new Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign, across a variety of streams and family of Reigate Grammar Schools. This will include long-term sustainable major donor fundraising, legacies, appeals and campaigns; digital fundraising; face-to-face meetings ; sponsorship and events.

You will be expected to drive the strategy around our new digital platform - the Reigatian Hub - which will provide the ability for Reigatians to connect globally and be a key facet to engage with all of segments of our community moving forward.

This job is multi-faceted and requires a range of skills: working as part of a team is hugely important and critical to our success along with building strong internal relationships within RGS.

The role will evolve in time and change in relation to new/fresh challenges and requirements set from the Foundation Director.

The key journey is to build effective relations with our former pupils, parents, sponsors and the wider Reigatian community. It is vital that you build up strong and effective communications with our key stakeholders with a view to them supporting our work. You will have agreed annual targets though there is a clear expectation to bring in significant return on investment.

This is a full-time position that will require flexibility and a commitment to work anti-social hours including overseas and weekend work. This is a task-driven role and flexibility is a fundamental requirement.

The key responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:

Fundraising:

  • Support the Foundation Director with the development of the innovative Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign.


  • Provide research and intelligence potential prospect donor groups, individuals and organisations whilst managing the donor pipeline module.


  • Source accurate project information for use in funding proposals and progress reports, to include statistical analysis.


  • Fundraising events and projects as directed by the Foundation Director.


  • Support and drive legacy strategy campaign - increase conversations that lead to pledges and commitments.


  • Conduct face-to-face meetings with the aim of gaining support and significant funds.


  • Create wealth screening and research papers/documents.


  • Engage corporate partners and increase income.


  • Build strong effective relationships that will encourage engagement, gifts in kind, and significant philanthropic support.


  • Help design and develop relationship strategies.


  • Help grow the Reigatian Hub platform.


  • Communications

  • Write articles for publications as appropriate.


  • Give presentations and be front of house as required.


  • Database

  • Develop a thorough knowledge of the structure and functionality of our CRM database, Toucan Tech.


  • Data input.


  • Create filters, reports, and have the ability to identify trends using statistical analysis and data.

    An established and successful career in fundraising with proven track record of building trusted relationships with a wide variety of individuals, including those with high net worth, with a track record of soliciting six figure gifts.


  • A passion for social mobility through education and the transformational impact bursaries make to the life-chances of a child.


  • Demonstrate maturity, particularly the ability to interact easily and professionally with a diverse community within the UK and overseas.


  • Highly accomplished social and inter-personal skills, persuasiveness, with the ability to influence any social situation using instinct and tact.


  • Ability and imagination to develop ways of enhancing relationships.


  • The ability to recruit and organise fundraising volunteers.


  • Broad business acumen with the ability to manage a budget and present reports.


  • Willingness to maintain an energetic schedule, including travel (UK and abroad) and regular evening and weekend commitments.


  • Enthusiasm, flexibility, creativity, self-motivation and resilience.


  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with experience in preparing proposals.


  • Excellent general office management skills, including Microsoft Office, relationship database management, research, digital reports and profiling.


  • A good university degree or equivalent.


  • Good knowledge of charity law aligned to tax-effective giving, legacies, GDPR and compliance.


  • Proven experience and success with specific projects (design, management and completion).


  • Desirable Skills, Qualities and Attributes:

  • Experience of fundraising in an educational environment.


  • Full or Associate membership of the IoF/CASE Europe.


  • Experience with the IDPE and professional practice.


  • Experience of event management.


  • Experience of relationship databases e.g. Toucan Tech or similar.


  • Knowledge of grant-making trusts, corporate giving and sponsorship., We are looking to appoint an Associate Foundation Director to join our successful Foundation team on a full-time basis.     The RGS Foundation is a focused and energetic group of like-minded people committed to making a difference by adding value to the Reigatian community and providing outstanding educational opportunities to disadvantaged children. Although the RGS Foundation was initially established in 2003, it has had a professional office for well over ten years. The award-winning Changing Lives campaign was completed three years early in 2022 and since our inception, the RGS Foundation has raised over £11.5m. Our ambitions do not stop there as we aim to raise an additional £20m over the next ten years.


  • This is an exciting time to be involved in a fast-paced office environment. At a crucial stage of our development, we are looking to grow to realise the new targets aligned to our Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign launched in October 2023. This will encompass the celebrations of Reigate Grammar School's 350th anniversary in 2025 and instil a legacy of philanthropy amongst the Reigatian Community.
