Full Job Description

The main duties of the job include:

  • Fair and Equitable Assessment: ensure a fair and consistent interview process, assessing both clinical abilities and PROUD behaviours.
  • Informed Decision-Making: provide panel members with all necessary information, including any restrictions, conflicts of interest, or criminal offenses, to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Structured Interview Process: organise and facilitate the interview process, including pre-interview discussions, time allocation, and post-interview debriefs.
  • Candidate Experience: welcome candidates, introduce panel members, and explain the interview format to create a positive candidate experience.
  • Consistent Evaluation: maintain a consistent interview structure and evaluation process for all candidates.
  • Collaborative Decision-Making: facilitate post-interview discussions to ensure all panel members' views are considered and appointments align with the person specification.
  • Effective Documentation: ;eep detailed notes of the interview process and ensure all panel members complete and sign relevant documentation.
  • Adherence to Policy: conduct the Appointment and Approval Committee (AAC) process fairly, in compliance with trust policies, NHS statutory instruments, and equality and diversity principles.

    We are looking for talented and experienced individuals who possess effective influencing and communication skills and have the intellectual flexibility to handle complex situations. Previous experience of working at a senior management level is essential, together with demonstrable expertise in chairing senior interview panels in a large organisation.

    We are seeking to appoint a number of Associate Lay Members to support Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in appointing our Medical and Dental Consultants by chairing statutory Advisory Appointment Committees (AAC's). As a Trust we run approximately 100 AAC's per annum., You will be working for an organisation which values and respects all of its staff and the community it serves.     Our AAC committee panels sit for part or full days and a sessional fee of £160 per half day is payable (to include travelling and parking expenses). The Trust will need you to commit to chairing a minimum of five AAC committee panels each year. Applications are invited from a wide range of backgrounds including senior managers and medical and dental professionals.
