Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity is available to join the Biomedical Science Course team at Solent University as a part-time, Associate Lecturer in Pharmacology. The role is to contribute to teaching for undergraduate Biomedical Science course that is accredited by the institute of biomedical science (IBMS).

You will provide teaching of the Pharmacology & Toxicology Module for undergraduate students. Typically, the module is taught over 12-week period.

We are looking for a creative team player who will be able to bring experience and knowledge of the subject area to ensure the content of the course remains relevant to industry. You will need to have good people's skills, work quickly to deadlines and has good time management skills.

The successful applicant should have a strong background in pharmacology. You will contribute to the development of the course ensuring it is aligned with the university's key strategies, committed to providing a high-quality student experience. This is role ideally suits an early career scientist who are working in pharma industry and keen to establish a link to academia where they share their expertise to take part in contributing to training next generation scientists. We welcome applicants from a diverse range of skills and backgrounds.,

  • Delivering both class and lab-based teaching in Pharmacology and Toxicology.

  • Developing and implementing engaging course materials, incorporating advanced drug discovery relevant case studies.

  • Assessing student performance, marking, providing constructive feedback, and guiding their academic and professional development.

  • Co-supervising students' lab projects.

  • Engaging in collaborations in relevant research projects within the Biomedical Science team.

  • Taking part in generating and editing documentations relevant to the Biomedical Science work at the University, such as generating SOPs for lab practicals.

  • Participating in some of the Biomedical Science team and departmental meetings.

    A PhD in a relevant field.

  • Strong expertise in pharmacology and toxicology field.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage and inspire students.

  • Excellent teamwork skills.
