Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for you as an experienced practitioner with knowledge and experience of working with people with mental health issues to work alongside the Core Community Mental Health Teams OTs.

The Core Team is a large multidisciplinary team of mental health professionals working with service users with moderate mental health needs supporting them with social, occupational and/or psychological needs.

We also support service users who have long term mental illnesses and require medication monitoring and administration via our Treatment Team clinics.

The post-holder will work alongside the Teams two OTs in delivering a range of OT informed interventions with our service users.

You will be providing a person centred service and an opportunity to also work alongside other professionals in the team to identify recovery focused interventions with our service users.

Main duties of the job

You will need to demonstrate a basic understanding of mental health conditions e.g. depression, anxiety disorders including agoraphobia, social anxiety, OCD and PTSD, and how these can impact on daily activities.

Also, to demonstrate an ability to motivate others, use effective communication & interpersonal skills, and an understanding and application of risk management.

You will be responsible for managing a caseload with a certain level of autonomy and to carry out therapeutic interventions in collaboration with service users to promote their independence and well being.

Interventions can range from delivering anxiety management education using self-help workbooks, supporting with graded exposure therapy goals, to linking in with local community services/activities.

Additionally, you will be required to complete regular reviews jointly with the named OT, service user & carer, including formulation of discharge letters.
