Full Job Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-orientated Band 4 Associate Practitioner to join our Haematology Team. You will play a key role in the delivery of a high -quality Haematology Service, and the role will largely involve the management of the Medical Laboratory Assistants within Specimen Reception. This post will be based at the Royal Glamorgan Hospital. The post holder will be expected to be flexible and open to changes, to identify opportunities for improvement and to play an active role in developing, implementing and sustaining improvements to working practices., The post holder will prepare patient samples received in the Blood Science Department for analysis. These duties will include entering patient and associated testing details into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) The post holder will also assist in the analysis of patient samples, routine analyser maintenance procedures, quality control and stock managment. The post holder will manage the workload allocation within the support staff team providing day-to-day management of band 3 staff. The post holder will maintain person development and competency to meet the changing demands of the job, participate in appropriate training activities, and assist with the development and training of other staff.
