Full Job Description

Role involves receipt and management of specimens following relevant standard operating procedures, including redistribution to other hospitals for further investigation. Assist in the dissection process and be responsible for the storage and disposal of specimens. Perform sample processing including microtomy, staining, preparation of diagnostic cytology samples and assisting with immunocytochemistry. Maintain and clean equipment, following correct disposal processes as well as managing stock control of materials and kits etc. Follow quality control processes at all times ensuring full participation of the departments Quality Management systems including audits., As an Associate Practitioner, perform a full range of analytical, technical and other laboratory duties within Cellular Pathology and Immunology. The daily technical activities of the cellular pathology laboratory include: - Preparation of samples to assist the biomedical scientists - Microtomy - Embedding - Staining - Assistance in immunocytochemistry and special stains - Computer work to process samples through the laboratory - Filing of slides or blocks if required
