At STM Journals, we collaborate with researchers to facilitate the publication of their impactful scientific discoveries, with a focus on rigorous peer review, ethics, and reproducibility. In support of our portfolio of 2700+ hybrid and open access scientific journals, you will actively contribute to advancing science, improving health outcomes, and fostering equitable participation in publishing.

About the Role

Cell Press is looking to expand the team of scientific editors working on iScience, an exciting broad scope open access journal publishing in the life, health, physical, earth and social sciences.

We are seeking to add a dynamic and enthusiastic scientific editor who shares our passion for helping scientists publish their work in a straightforward and timely way.

Responsibilities

  • Assessing submitted research papers

  • Overseeing the peer review process for direct submissions and transferred contributions

  • Establishing relationships with researchers

  • Recruit exciting research papers for submission to iScience

  • Commissioning review content

  • Representing the journal and Cell Press at scientific meetings, and visit research institutions

  • Working collaboratively with academic editorial board members and editors

  • Building effective working relationships with colleagues across Cell Press and beyond

    Have a PhD in a life science discipline, with expertise in cancer biology and immunology, cell and molecular biology.

  • Have broad scientific interests, a desire to learn, and the ability to think critically about a wide range of scientific issues. You will need to develop an understanding of the diverse areas covered by the journal, as well as be open to exciting emerging topics.

  • Have great interpersonal skills. Collaboration and networking are core aspects of the job.

  • Be able to communicate clearly.

  • Be able to organize, prioritize, and focus.

  • Be creative, have a willingness to experiment, and desire to improve.
