Full Job Description

We are looking for an Associate Solicitor, to join us and work as part of the Insured Regulatory team in either our Hull, Leeds or Birmingham office. This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to a broad range of interesting Business Crime and Regulatory (BCR) cases, as part of a friendly and supportive team. This role has great potential for development and progression for an individual looking to solidify their technical ability and gain further grounding in Insured Regulatory. The successful candidate will be working both autonomously and as part of a team and will gain experience in a range of BCR disciplines, supporting more senior solicitors in complex cases. Duties include:

  • Advising, representing and supporting clients over a range of BCR disciplines including regulatory investigations including those by the Health & Safety Executive, Environment Agency, local authorities, coroners, the Traffic Commissioners, DVSA, CQC, DEFRA, HMRC.
  • Communicating effectively with clients and all relevant third parties including opponents, the Court, Counsel etc.
  • Working within an insurance funded litigation environment and considering matters of insurance policy coverage and providing claims handling support to insurers.
  • Conduct of claims within the relevant legal framework: civil court, BCR tribunal, criminal court, regulatory etc.
  • Working across the business supporting the delivery of complete, accurate and timely legal services on all BCR matters.
  • To provide a caring, quality service to the company's clients in accordance with the plans and targets of rradar.
  • Carrying out duties in a professional manner, complying with relevant professional standards and any requirement set by relevant regulating bodies including the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) and the Law Society of England and Wales.

    The ideal candidate will have general Business Crime and Regulatory expertise, with experience in a wide range of regulatory investigations, prosecutions and civil proceedings.
  • Be a qualified Solicitor or Equivalent, ideally with 3 to 5 years PQE.
  • Experience of dealing with a varied case load.
  • Have experience in a busy, reputable BCR team within a well recognised practice.
  • Have working knowledge of IT systems such as Word, Outlook, case management systems (ideally Salesforce) and digital dictation systems.
  • Be able to exhibit strong ability to work on own initiative using their autonomy, whilst also being a strong team player.
  • It would also be desirable to have:
  • Some insurance litigation experience and understanding of litigation policy related issues.
  • Knowledge and working use of case management systems.
