Full Job Description

  • Lead structural engineering teams to deliver large sports projects and work packages through all stages of design

  • Provide hands-on technical leadership to stadia and arena projects. An excellent understanding of structural behaviour must underpin an appropriate use of tools including automation, parametric modelling, computational design, and coded software interfaces

  • Plan the digital delivery of projects including all necessary software and tools for analysis, design, modelling and delivery. Work closely with building information modelling team, supporting creating of digital twins

  • Liaise with clients and external consultants to understand, develop and deliver the brief. Report and present to clients and/or contractors on progress

  • Collaborate with architects, building services engineers and other disciplines, either in a lead or contributory role

  • Undertake risk management on commissions, to identify - and positively manage - commercial and technical delivery risks

  • Assist with developing new business and prepare/present proposals. Assist with negotiating and applying consultancy contracts, including terms and conditions and scope of service

  • Oversee project delivery so that carbon emissions are assessed and provided to clients, also supporting internal carbon reduction programmes

  • Help to develop and mentor team members

  • Be prepared to travel nationally and internationally for meetings and presentations to clients

  • Develop and mentor team members in their technical and professional development through achieving chartership and beyond

    A fundamental part of this is respecting each person’s differences and striving to meet their needs.Â, We are looking for a talented and highly motivated structural engineering lead, to join a busy and growing team working on UK and international sports projects., Chartered Engineer status as a member of a relevant institution (IStructE, ICE or equivalent)

  • A track record of undertaking successful structural engineering designs within the sports sector

  • Experience of leading teams to deliver sports sector structural and multidisciplinary designs

  • A strong understanding of structural engineering behaviour and design in different materials and a wide variety of forms to create different buildings and structures

  • Experience of managing and delivering designs for a contractor in a Design and Build environment.

  • A background including direct use of a variety of analysis and design software tools, and an appreciation of benefits and disadvantages of each

  • Strong organisational, collaboration and communication skills
