Full Job Description

  • Oversee planning projects, including strategic site promotion, planning applications, and policy responses.
  • Lead the Planning Academy / Graduate Programme, upskilling junior planners and ensuring consistency in planning activities.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to identify and deliver town planning opportunities, driving value for the NHS.
  • Monitor and influence planning policy consultations at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Provide technical advice on town planning matters impacting NHSPS and the wider NHS estate.
  • Engage with key partners such as NHS England, NHS Trusts, Integrated Care Systems, and the Department of Health and Social Care.

    The successful candidate will be a chartered town planning professional with around five years of post-accreditation experience, ideally through membership of the RTPI.
  • You'll have a strong background in delivering town planning projects and a deep understanding of planning policy, development strategies, and S106 / CIL funding. A collaborative mindset, problem-solving skills, and a passion for developing innovative solutions are key attributes that will help you succeed in this role. Essential Skills and Experience :
  • Proven experience in managing town planning projects and identifying planning strategies.
  • Strong knowledge of town planning policies, including S106 / CIL contributions and planning applications.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders.
  • Experience in upskilling and coaching junior team members.
  • Chartered membership of RTPI or MRICS with ongoing CPD.
