Full Job Description

We are excited to announce that with new mental health transformation funding we have launched a service aimed at identifying and supporting individuals who are vulnerable to developing psychosis (At Risk Mental State). The service will work alongside those at risk of developing psychosis to create opportunities to develop preventative strategies and support through partnership with local mental health, social care, primary care and third sector agencies. This is a newly commissioned service aiming to recruit supportive, highly skilled, established and professionals.

The ARMS service will work closely with PATH (Early Intervention in Psychosis Service) and develop and maintain links with other services in HPFT and the wider community.

We have an interesting and exciting opportunity for a STaR Workers to join the ARMS team and deliver a service to people identified as having an At Risk Mental State (ARMS), based in Hertfordshire.

Main duties of the job

As a specialist mental health service for those with ARMS, the service will be based on NICE-recommended interventions. This will include comprehensive assessment and psychological interventions for psychosis or co-existing mental health problems (e.g. depression, anxiety, emerging personality disorder, substance misuse). These activities are often supported with family interventions, care coordination, social prescribing, and education/employment support.

You will provide support to service users based in the West of Hertfordshire . You will need experience of working with people who have mental health issues in the community.

The work is varied and rewarding. It can at times be challenging and unpredictable. You will need to be a good communicator, able to support people in distress or who are unwell, be practical, sensible, and able to work alone as well as part of a skilled team. There is good opportunity for training in-house and also developmental opportunities for STaR Workers.

This is a great opportunity for you to be part of a developing and exciting service, at the forefront of implementation of the ARMS Pathway. You will play a valuable part in ensuring our service users receive the right care, support and treatment at the right time from an ARMS service so they can lead full, hopeful and productive lives.
