Full Job Description

Welcome to the School Attendance, Exclusion and Community Education Team! We are looking to recruit a dynamic, attendance and exclusions officer, preferably with experience of having worked with children, families and schools.

This post will cover a maternity leave for 12 months and will provide the successful applicant with working part time in the Virtual School supporting children with social workers and supporting schools in Bury with improving school attendance.

The team has developed a number of processes over the last 12 months to help improve school attendance in accordance with the DfE Working Together to Improve School Attendance statutory guidance 2024. We need someone who is passionate about the work that we deliver and is able to joint this dynamic team.

The skills that you will need are excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be able to relate professionally and confidently to children, school staff and parents. You need to be highly motivated, organised and have excellent ICT skills and work independently.

Our main base is at Knowsley Place, Duke Street, Bury but you will also be able to work on a agile basis. You will receive training for the role from experienced, friendly staff.

The role will require you to travel around the borough but also outside of Bury to visit cared for children / children with social workers.

The salary is Grade 10, £33,024 - £35,745 and normal working hours are 37 hours per week, all year round. You may be required to work evenings when required to cover meetings at schools.
