Full Job Description

oTo perform diagnostic procedures and provide a comprehensive specialist hearing aid and rehabilitation service at acute and community sites, including domiciliary work if appropriate. To determine care plans for individual patients, and involve carers and families as appropriate. oTo participate in the development of adult audiology services in line with DoH proposals supporting the audiology management team. oTo support the Audiology Team Lead in the operational management and day to day running of Audiology services, including the supervision of audiologists and assistants., The full job description provides an overview of the key tasks and responsibilities of the role, and the person specification outlines the qualifications, skills, experience, and knowledge required.

Essential

  • Audiology Degree with evidence of clinical competence or MSc in Audiological Science with evidence of clinical competence.
  • Registration with RCCP as an Audiologist or HCPC as a Clinical Scientist (Audiology)
  • Desirable
  • Evidence of CPD
  • British Sign Language
  • Membership of BAA and / or BSA
  • Experience Essential
  • Experience of working within the NHS
  • Experience of working autonomously in audiologist / scientist-led clinics, using patient management skills including history-taking and debrief
  • Desirable Small area of responsibility within audiology Knowledge Essential
  • Knowledge of Audiological test procedures
  • Deaf Awareness
  • Desirable Theoretical knowledge of Paediatric Audiology, and advanced Audiological test techniques. Skills Essential
  • Ability to prioritise, innovate & work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Excellent IT skills
  • Regular attendance & good time keeping in the workplace
  • An enquiring interest in Audiology

    The post is an Adult Audiologist based in Newham at Vicarage Lane Health Centre and Newham Hospital ENT department
  • Full training will be given to enable the successful applicant to gain the clinical and other skills required. The Audiology service is managed by Bart's Health and we cover four districts in East London - Tower Hamlets, City and Hackney, Waltham Forest and Newham. Our team is made up of over 90 staff including Audiologists, Hearing Therapists, new-born hearing screeners and clerical staff.
