Full Job Description

You will be required to work at both of our sites at St Peters Centre in Burnley and Royal Blackburn Hospital.
To undertake this role you will need to have a positive and pro-active approach to work, with a strong desire to deliver this highest standard of customer service to our patients in a very busy environment.
You will also need to be a good team member, use your initiative, be methodical and have excellent communication skills, as you will be liaising with people of all disciplines across the trust
This post is full time.
Monday-Thursday 9-5pm
Fridays - 8:30-4:30pm, Main duties consist of being the first point of contact for the service via our Reception areas. This will include both meeting and greeting patients accessing the service for their appointments and via the telephone, as well as liaising with a range of multi-disciplinary professionals.
You will be required to manage a busy telephone system and input/process referrals that are sent into the service. You will also be required to provide admin support to other areas of the service and action any administrative tasks that are sent in daily to the Audiology mailboxes.
Team work and flexibility are essential to this role. This role requires cross site working with additional cover for sickness/annual leave when required.
The post holder will work within both Paediatric and Adult Audiology., + Provide an efficient and courteous link with colleagues, clients, parents, and other professionals within the service using appropriate communication skills where there are barriers including contact with service users who have hearing impairment.
+ To input new referrals onto the IT system.
+ Fill clinic cancellations.
+ Ensure all incoming/outgoing mail is dealt with appropriately and efficiently.
+ Deal with incoming telephone calls ensuring queries are dealt with quickly and accurately and provide an efficient message taking service for Audiology and Hearing Therapy.
+ Undertake a range of general office duties including, filing, and photocopying, verbally contacting patients where possible prior to their appointment to help manage failure to attend appointments.
+ Receiving/receipting patient ear moulds.
+ Distribution of clinic letters via email and post.
+ Distribution of patient appointment letters.
+ Booking appointments and maintaining appointment opt in spreadsheet/system.

Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS)

The healthcare sector is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied. Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary. However, if you are applying for a post as a BANK worker, the payment must be made in full at the time of employment checks. The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £42.90 and for a Standard Disclosure £22.90 which includes a small handling fee.

Our Audiology team work across 4 sites (Royal Blackburn, St Peters Centre, Accrington Victoria and Barbara Castle Way) Our administrative teams work at St Peters Centre and at Royal Blackburn.
