Full Job Description

This dual role combines responsibilities as both an Automotive Engineering Technician and a Skills Development Coach. You will support students by maintaining and instructing on automotive engineering equipment, while also ensuring that they are industry-ready through work placements and skill development. This position bridges hands-on technical instruction with essential employability skills.

About the Candidate

The successful candidate will possess strong technical expertise in automotive engineering, covering areas such as diagnostics, vehicle maintenance, and repair. You will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of workshop equipment and tools, while supporting teaching staff by preparing materials and guiding students through practical tasks. Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety regulations, including completing risk assessments, will be essential in maintaining a safe learning environment.

Additionally, you will play a key role in developing students' employability and technical skills. By working closely with employers and curriculum teams, you will create opportunities for students to enhance their skills, monitor their progress, and help them achieve their career goals through work placements and skill-building activities.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the next generation of automotive engineers in a modern, forward-thinking college. Whether you come from an industry background or have experience in education, your passion for automotive engineering will make a meaningful impact on student success. We welcome applications from individuals with industry experience looking to transition into an education setting, as well as those already experienced in supporting technical education. Continuous professional development (CPD) opportunities will be available to ensure you stay up to date with the latest industry advancements.
