Full Job Description
The primary purpose of this position is to troubleshoot, maintain, repair, and overhaul complex majorcomponents and systems of combustion-powered automotive vehicles, electric-powered vehicles andequipment, towed vehicles and equipment, over-the-road trucks, and comparable vehicles.You will be responsible for performing troubleshooting defects and diagnosing malfunctions andmaintaining, repairing, and/or overhauling complex major components and systems, interpreting andapplying manufacturers' repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics, engineering drawings,diagnostic codes, computer printouts and environmental and safety manuals. You will utilize safetypractices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains safe andclean work environment. Your hours of work will be 39 hours per week on a fixed schedule (Mon-Thu0700-1530/ Fri 0700-1430) where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and inaccordance with the organization's flexible working policies. You may be required to perform extendedhours, on-call duties and shift working.Must have NVQ Level 3 Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or Equivalent.
1. Knowledge of safety regulations, procedures, and policies to include environmental directivespertaining to handling hazardous materials.2. Knowledge of equipment common to the trade, i.e., front-end alignment and wheel balancingequipment, turning and grinding equipment for servicing brake drums and discs or rotor assemblies, anddrilling and pressure bleeding devices.3. Knowledge of technical practices in order to repair and/or overhaul major components and systemssuch as engines, transmissions, differentials, transaxles, electronic fuel injection systems, emissioncontrol systems, and related electrical, electronic, hydraulic, fuel, and other assemblies.4. Skill in the use of measuring instruments and test equipment, i.e., computerized engine analyzers,compression testers, test benches, oscilloscopes, multimeters, special feeler and dial gauges, etc.5. Skill in troubleshooting defects and diagnosing malfunctions and determining the kind and extent ofmaintenance and/or repairs needed.6. Skill in using hand and power tools common to the occupation, i.e., wrenches, screwdrivers, insulatedpliers, electric drills, pneumatic wrenches, and soldering irons.7. Ability to interpret and apply manufacturers' repair manuals and technical specifications, schematics,engineering drawings, diagnostic codes, computer printouts, and safety manuals.8. Ability to maintain, repair, and overhaul complex major components and systems incombustion-powered automotive vehicles, electric-powered vehicles and equipment, towed vehicles andequipment, over-the road trucks, and comparable vehicles without more than normal supervision.

1. May be required to operate any of the vehicles managed by the Vehicle Fleet Section. This includesmilitary and commercial designed light passenger vehicles, trucks, buses, tractors with semi-trailer up to45 tons (Class 1), recovery vehicles and material handling equipment (MHE) up to 22,000 lbs.2. Must meet all certification requirements of the position.3. May be required to guide and/or train lower graded employees.4. The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle. A valid LGV Category C Driving Licenseis required.5. May be required to perform extended hours, on-call duties and shift working.6. Position requires adherence to procedures as prescribed in USAF Regulations, British HighwayCodes, and local operating policies.7. Travel within and outside the UK by military or commercial aircraft may be required in theperformance of TDY assignments and/or training.8. May be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to thegrade and skill set of the incumbent.9. The Local National Direct Hire (LNDH) Program does not participate in regular drug testing, howeverpositions covered by this SCPD may be subject to drug testing upon reasonable suspicion of substanceabuse, and safety mishap or accident testing10.
