Full Job Description

  • Lead a small safety team in theconduct of safety assessments and production of safety deliverablesto support the development of our autonomyproducts
  • Assist the System DesignAuthority to ensure the engineering teams work within theprescribed safety management system Support the engineering teams in managing system safetyrequirements in the Model Based Systems Engineering environment/tool
  • Provide Safetyadvice/input on all design and engineering changerequests
  • Develop the productsafety assurance case to support third partycertification/classification and product release tomarket
  • Chair project SafetyWorking Groups and Committees as required
  • Provide SME advice on Product Safety to the project,partners, customer and suppliers Manage the safety schedule and tasking for the safetyteam so that all deliverable milestones aremet

    Thorough understanding of system safety assessmenttechniques and associated standards such as Def Stan 00-056 or MilStd 882E
  • Experience in theconduct of system safety assessments such as but not limited toHAZID, HAZAN, FFA, FHA, FTA, ETA, Bowtie
  • Experiencein producing system safety assurance cases and use of CAE andGSN
  • Good understanding oflegislation and regulation for products in the maritimeenvironment
  • Desirable:
  • Be qualified to degree level in a relatedengineering discipline Be aregistered member of a professional engineering institute and on apath to become a Chartered Engineer Experiencein functional safety analysis to a standard such as IEC 61508 or61511 Goodawareness of the developing techniques and approaches for thesafety assurance of autonomous systems
  • Goodunderstanding of Model Based Systems Engineering andtools
  • Good awareness of classsociety rules for marine craft andplatforms

    Engineer to support theSystem Design Authority in our journey to develop the autonomouscapability and support our product entry into operational assets.The role will be responsible for the planning and execution of theproduct safety activities and analysis through the productdevelopment lifecycle. The role will also act to provide productsafety advice to the wider project team and support the assuranceof supplier safetydeliverables. As theworld has evolved, so has the way we work.
