Full Job Description

The Legal and Compliance Department (LCD) manages legal and regulatory compliance risks for GIC, works closely with deal teams on the legal and regulatory aspects of their transactions and partners with the business to ensure that relevant risks are identified, assessed and dealt with in a timely and efficient manner., We are looking for a highly motivated, high calibre credit lawyer to join our Legal Division in London to partner with our market leading Private Credit deal teams in executing global private credit transactions.

Responsibilities

Advise Private Credit deal team through all stages of transactions, including grid and term sheet negotiation and long-form documentation.

Manage and consult with top international and local law firms on a variety of legal matters both in relation to transactions and to support investment activities, with a view to delivering superior services on a timely and cost-effective basis.

Occasional involvement in credit restructuring negotiations and solutions.

Run knowledge sharing sessions with deal teams, within LCD and for wider organisation.

Contribute and promote teamwork and collaboration among the LCD team.

Participate in or contribute to GIC-wide initiatives and projects as needed on a global basis.

Strong academic background.

Qualified solicitor or attorney.

Between 3 to 7 years' post-qualification experience in the credit team of a law firm or financial institution involved in lender-side representations for international Private Equity LBO financing or credit restructuring, including familiarity with a broad range of debt products such as unitranche facilities, subordinated loans and preferred equity.

Experience representing private credit lenders on mid-market or large-cap transactions is a bonus.

You are able to explain complex concepts in a clear and succinct manner to those without a legal background.

You possess an analytical mind, are intellectually curious, with a good knowledge of commercial law, and are able to identify legal risks and propose solutions in the context of the business' interest.

You have good negotiating skills, communication and interpersonal skills to effectively represent GIC in dealings with our counterparties and LCD with internal parties.

You are outcome focused and enthusiastic to support deals teams on intensive processes to achieve the best outcome for GIC, while also managing any legal and regulatory compliance aspects of a transaction.

You are highly proactive, adaptable to changes and are resourceful, can multitask within tight timelines, able to work independently and in a team, with drive and a strong desire to succeed.
