Full Job Description

Working with the other clinical specialists in acute and stroke, the post holder will provide leadership and clinical expertise to the Speech & Language Therapy team and wider MDT. This role will involve assessing and managing patients with complex dysphagia and/or communication impairments across the acute wards; including acute medicine, care of the elderly, respiratory, cardiac, stroke, neurotherapy and critical care.
The successful applicant will have experience of teaching and supervision and be required to focus on providing specialist education to other members of the Speech & Language Therapy team regarding the management of tracheostomy and the development of skills in FEES. This will involve supporting a robust competency-based framework and the scoping/development of the use of FEES through business case submission.

A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the Speech & Language Therapy service at UHD. The team are looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for working within an acute setting. Within this role, clinical work will be combined with an education and teaching component as part of our workforce development plans and growth of the Speech & Language Therapy service.
