Weare currently recruiting a Band 2 Healthcare Support Worker, part time to bepart of our General Rehab Inpatient Unit at Malvern Community Hospital. The candidate will work closely with themultidisciplinary team (MDT) to achieve specific rehabilitation goals. Thiswill be a challenging and exciting opportunity and will enable the individual todevelop new and existing skills. MalvernCommunity Hospital, plays a critical role in the delivery of local NHSservices, providing more care and treatment closer to peoples homes. Main duties of the job The main duties of a healthcaresupport worker are : -

  • Assist with admitting patients to the ward and the care oftheir relatives
  • Undertake clinical procedures following assessment ofcompetencies by qualified senior members of staff
  • Carry out delegated nursing care
  • Act as health
  • Provide safe and effective care
  • Identifies areas for the improvement
  • Assist patients with attending to the activities of dailyliving and support the therapy team with the rehabilitation of the patient.
  • assist patients to sit up or out for breakfast.
  • serve and prepare meals / breakfast and drinks, help to assist patients whenrequired. complete appropriate paperwork food diaries and fluid balancecharts.
  • assist patients with morning personal care and dressing.
  • mobilise patients using correct mobility equipment when required / liaisewith physiotherapy team.
  • liaise with nursing staff for information regarding Observations,catheters, lab samples, blood sugar monitoring, dressings and further healthchecks.
  • carry out patient weekly assessments which involve weighing, clean and checkmattress, catheter bag change when required.
  • stores to be restocked daily.
  • assist patients with toileting.
  • assist to support patients to bed / attach catheter night bags whenrequired.
  • comply with policies and procedures of the ward., Behave consistentlywith the values and beliefs of the organisation and promote these on day to daybasis.
  • Act as a role modelto colleagues, always seeking to maintain the highest standards ofprofessionalism. Use their initiativeand take responsibility for themselves and the quality of their work and theservice they provide to patients. Provide safe andeffective practice to patients within the Community Hospital. Practice as a memberof the Community Hospital Nursing Team to support and work in partnership withthe larger multi-disciplinary team to provide patient care within a definedward / department.   • Level 2 qualification ( GCSE Grade A-C, NVQ2) in Care OR A good standard of general education to GCSE level and will be expected to undertake the relevant Level 2 qualification on appointment to post
  • Will be expected to meet the Care Certificate standards within 12 weeks of commencing employment with the Trust
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
