Full Job Description

We need people who are caring, supportive, great at communicating and thrive looking after others. We are looking for somebody who can help us provide the very best care possible to our patients - somebody with an empathetic nature and enthusiastic approach will be perfect in this role., This Healthcare Assistant opportunity is to join our Barnet Hospital team where you will learn and grow whilst developed by our Education Team.

If you are new to the NHS, we have a quality Level 2 HCSW Apprenticeship programme that enables you to gain a recognised healthcare qualification and supports your future education and career development. The education and development of our HCAs is key to ensuring that our patients receive high quality care and that staff feel supported to progress., The role of a Healthcare Assistant is fulfilling, varied and impactful. You will play a vital role in the care of our patients, helping with their day-to-day needs such as personal care, observations, mealtimes, toileting and mobility - as well as performing medical checks such as taking temperatures, pulse and respiration. This care is critical to supporting our patients in their recovery and providing them with the best experience.

Sometimes the role will be tough. You will see and be involved in some difficult patient care, be rushed off your feet and deliver some very direct personal care too.

We have over 10,000 staff across three different sites, all working towards the same aim which is to ensure our patients receive the very best care. You will work with dozens of different people all performing different roles, so you have the chance to learn so much.

As you would expect, we do work on a shift basis - our patients need our care and attention 24 hours a day 7 days a week, so everyone gets involved working different shifts to ensure our patients receive the best care. Typically, you would usually work a four-shift system: early, late, twilight and nights. This role requires some 12-hour day or night shifts, otherwise known as a 'long day' or 'long night'.

We are very proud of our great history at Royal Free Trust and we want you to be part of our future. Watch our video to find out more about working in the organisation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEmbE-yec2M

If you have always aspired to work for the NHS - caring for our patients and working alongside highly motivated teams - then you are going to love this role at the Barnet Hospital.

We understand how important life is outside of work, so as well as 27 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), we have excellent family leave policies (from when you start a family, up to balancing home and work life) and an excellent pension scheme.

We adopt a forward-thinking approach to working that works around your lifestyle. This includes working flexible hours (through self-rostering so you can request your preferred shifts) and being able to make use of a generous wellbeing and benefits package - as an NHS employee you will have access to great discounts with leading high street names and different discount schemes.
