Full Job Description
Occupational Therapy Assistant Low Secure CAMHS. An exciting opportunity has arisen in our Low Secure Forensic Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service at Ardenleigh Hospital for an Occupational Therapy Assistant who is passionate and highly motivated to work with young people with complex mental health and neuro development needs. Ardenleigh CAMHS service is a nationally commissioned Tier 4 Low Secure Service, which has received recognition through the National Autism Society receiving accreditation. We have an incredible national reputation and have successfully launched our new therapeutic model of care into the service followed by a DBT approach to the service. This is a fantastic opportunity for a dynamic, creative, and imaginative individual to be able to adapt and deliver high quality skills within a well-established multidisciplinary team and to make significant difference to the lives of the young people and their families with the supervision of an Occupational Therapist. We have also launched the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme into the CAMHS service, this will be a fantastic opportunity to embed OT and its core values to continue to empower young people recognise their strengths and skills for future development. There will be opportunities for the OT to gain further qualifications and to attend training such as MOCA, Sensory Integration and DBT skills. Main duties of the job The OT service is a well-resourced department that provides occupational therapy treatment to support young people with complex mental health and neurodevelopmental needs to move successfully though their care pathway To hold a small case load of individual referrals for treatment that support young people to engage in their recovery. To co-facilitate planned therapy programmes that aim to improve communication, cognitive and life skills. To ensure that young people' views are represented in the delivery of therapies in line with the clinic's recovery focussed strategy. To support young people to transfer their skills into a community setting. To contribute to assessments through observation, communication and accurate record keeping. To maintain accurate clinical records and appropriate data. To promote OT services and support visitors to the department. To contribute to their own personal development through the Trust ADR process and have a positive attitude towards supervision. Embed DBT principles and values into the ward environment to support young people., Please refer to the job specification and Job description to understand the roles and responsibilities of the job.
- Holds Level 3 NVQ in healthcare or teaching
- Experience of working in a Children and adolescent unit or Mental health sector.
- Understand the Occupational Therapy profession and its role within Mental Health Services and working with young people with complex disorders such as autism, trauma, and mental health.
- Experience or understanding and embedding DBT skills and principles.
- Experience of planning and developing individual and group sessions
