Full Job Description

Are you a therapy assistant that would like a new challenge? This vacancy has arisen within our well-established Inpatient Therapy Service at Watford General Hospital. This is a fixed-term, full-time role for 12 months, working 37.5 hours per week. This post would be suitable for an individual with a particular interest in assisting patients to become as independent as possible. The role would also include supporting our qualified members of staff to deliver complex treatments to dependent patients who have had Orthopaedic surgery. The successful candidate needs to have previous NHS experience, ideally in an acute setting. Previous therapy assistant experience would also be preferable. The role will involve carrying out prescribed treatments, with some responsibility to progress patients within set limits, and providing feedback to the qualified team members. There will be admin roles associated with this post, including electronic patient notes and equipment stock takes and ordering. This post does not include any evening/overnight responsibilities but the successful post holder would have a responsibility in participating in the weekend and Bank Holiday seven day working rotas as required, that operates on both the Watford General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital sites., The caseload can be challenging and good communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a tactful approach, are pre-requisites in working effectively within this post. The successful post holder will be supported by a team of experienced staff and offers a potential candidate the ideal opportunity to gain a wealth of experience within our dedicated and friendly acute Inpatient therapy service.   • To provide both clinical and administrative support to qualified staff providing patient care. Implement and progress agreed planned treatment programmes.
  • To work under the supervision of qualified therapy staff, to undertake a variety of tasks (clinical and non-clinical), to support the delivery of physiotherapy to patients. Some tasks will be unsupervised.
  • To work in ward based setting, assisting patients to complete their treatment, teaching and progressing when necessary, individually and in groups, and to prepare the environment and equipment. To maintain stock and equipment including reordering.
  • Non-clinical duties include data inputting and housekeeping which aid the efficient running of the department.
  • To provide both clinical and administrative support to qualified staff providing patient care.
