Full Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Pathology Reception team, providing essential support to the Blood Sciences laboratory across West Herts Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
The role may involve shifts from 08:00 to 20:00, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week), with occasional weekend shifts as required.
Laboratory experience and keyboard skills would be beneficial, but full training will be provided.
The successful candidate will be expected to work at either of our blood science service locations, Watford or Hemel Hempstead Hospital.
This role includes registering patients on the laboratory IT system and preparing samples for analysis by our Biomedical Scientist team. It is a busy position that demands a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.

To receive specimens, enter patient and test details into the Pathology computer system, Prepare specimens for the Chemical Pathology and Haematology Laboratories and for sending to other laboratories.
To work closely with registered biomedical scientist staff, to observe and implement standard operating procedures, to liaise with clinical and nursing staff when required.
To participate in the annual joint review process (Values Bases Appraisal).
To participate in flexible working practices (shift patterns) and work at either site as required for the smooth running of the service.
