Full Job Description

The Haematology team at the Royal Free Trust is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Nurse associate/ Assistant Nurse Practitioner at band 4 . The potholder will play a key role in supporting the delivery of patient care in ambulatory service. Assisting nurses with a greater range of care-giving responsibilities, improving patient communications, providing more patient centred care and acting as patient advocates, identifying and escalating patients with deteriorating health., If you believe you meet the criteria of the person specification and would like to join the Royal Free at this time, we would be interested in receiving your application.

  • Caring for patients in an outpatient setting
  • You will be required to perform Cannulation and venesection for which training will be provided.
  • You will record patients vital signs, provide basic nursing care and ensure the department is stocked with clinical supplies. T
  • he post holder will support the haematology nursing teams in the smooth running of the unit, working under the direct supervision of registered specialist nurses.

  • · As a member of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will contribute to the delivery of patients' individual care under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse. · The Senior Nursing Assistant demonstrates a level of skill and understanding which enables them to undertake specific tasks delegated by the nurse in charge and in accordance with relevant procedures, guidelines and policies. S/he will undertake both routine and specially identified tasks for which they have been trained and assessed as competent · The role involves assisting patients seen in the department, measuring vital signs, taking blood samples and other specimens as necessary · Using their own initiative the post-holder will keep material resources of the department, well stocked and in good order and help to maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene · There is the opportunity to develop within the role and undertake further training and development. · To act as a role model for colleagues.

  • Previous experience of working with the public and/or patients in a healthcare environment
  • Experience of interaction with all levels of staff
  • Previous experience of HCA/Phlebotomy skills
  • Experience of managing and prioritising own workload and working to deadlines
  • Experience of dealing with non-routine and complex problems
