Full Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a motivated and passionate Medical Secretary/PA to our friendly Upper GI Team, to provide secretarial and administrative support to two Consultant Surgeons. This is a twelve-month fixed-term post to cover maternity leave. The Upper GI Service provides a high level of care and management to patients with diagnoses of cancer and benign conditions.

The post holder will need to possess excellent typing and administrative skills, with previous secretarial experience and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Excellent time management and prioritisation skills, as well as attention to detail, are also essential in order to meet Trust Targets and tight deadlines. The post holder will work under indirect supervision and will directly contribute to and coordinate the efficient running of the service, ensuring that a seamless approach to patient care is delivered., Typing of clinical and administrative letters.

Management of waiting lists and theatre lists.

Booking/Management of Outpatient appointments.

Opening and distribution of incoming mail, using judgement to decide which are for urgent action.

Diary management.

Prioritise own workload to meet services needs and deadlines.

Provide effective communication via telephone, face to face and email.

Meeting Trust Targets.

Ensure that Mandatory Training is completed as required.

Data Protection and confidentiality in line with Trust policy and procedures.
