QEHB has an opening for an Operational Support Assistant in one of the largest tertiary centres in the UK. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to grapple with the daily operations of the Cardiology departments, branching into exciting sub-speciality complexities. Recovery from a post-pandemic world is a key target for these departments and there will be focus on recovering performance. There will not be a dull day in this busy and varied role. With the countless development opportunities and learning experiences available in this role, the successful candidate will gain exposure to medical operations., The Operations Support Administrator (OSA) is responsible for managing and prioritising a highly detailed and complex workload. Attention to detail is key and the OSA will have the ability to work well under pressure. A good understanding of performance waiting time standards; 18-weeks referral-to-treatment, within care pathways will be of advantage. The OSA will have a flexible approach to their work and have the skills to respond to departmental issues and unforeseen challenges in a timely manner to ensure the smooth running of the speciality. The OSA is responsible for the line management of the Cardiology Booking Team. The role will be based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital The main responsibilities of the role include:

  • To provide and receive complex information on a daily basis. To exercise initiative and judgement based on acquired knowledge and experience when dealing with enquiries of a clinical and non-clinical nature
  • To provide line management to the Cardiology Booking Team on a daily basis.
  • To undertake validation of data and provide assurance
  • To provide a point of contact for stakeholders and service users, who may be highly emotional and highly distressed ensuring that any language or other communication barriers are overcome
  • To draft correspondence as appropriate in a sympathetic but easily understandable manner
  • To understand the patient pathway including RTT, capacity and demand planning as required. Deal with queries and action as appropriate to achieve Trust targets
