The post holder will be responsible for the prioritisation of presenting clinical symptoms, throughout a 24 hour period. This will include the transfer of patient calls to the appropriate responders by undertaking brief clinical risk and mental state assessment, formulation and brief psychological interventions for people presenting in mental health crisis. The post holder will be expected to work shift patterns to cover the provision of the service, to include Long days, weekends and eventually nights.,

  • Undertake clinical risk assessments, based on latest empirical evidence and compliant with local policies and procedures.
  • Supervise and support apprentice and trainee staff.
  • Ensure that individual episodes of care are delivered in a timely, effective and integrated manner.
  • Promote a recovery model that empowers patients, carers and relatives to be at the forefront of decision making and ownership of their packages of care and treatment.
  • Excellent communication skills will be required, including active listening, validating and feedback to ensure the caller is heard and an appropriate outcome reached.
  • The ability to clearly record assessments and decision-making so that onward referrals do not necessitate repetition for the patient.
