Full Job Description

To assist in the delivery of therapy services by supporting Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in the assessment and treatment of highly complex patients. This will include independently treating patients post-operatively on the short-stay ward and supporting our patient pathways.

To provide appropriate therapeutic interventions to patients referred by therapists and be able to progress these treatments as part of your own patient caseload, progressing patients along clinical milestones and ensuring safe and efficient discharge from hospital.

To independently assess patients prior to day case procedures and facilitate therapy discharge pre-operatively where appropriate.

To promote a rehab ethos on the ward, which involves encouraging patients to dress in day clothing, independent washing and dressing, walking to the toilet and sitting out for meals.

To be responsible for monitoring and ordering specialist equipment and materials required by the inpatient therapy teams. This requires liaison with both suppliers and therapists to ensure that cost and efficiency measures are considered throughout the process.
