Full Job Description

Orthoptic clinics will involve adult and paediatric Orthoptic only clinics as well as regular joint Paediatric Ophthalmology, Strabismus, Neuro-Ophthalmology and refraction clinics. In addition to these clinics the successful applicant will be involved in community, specialist thyroid and stroke clinics, depending on experience. The Orthoptic team also support the Acute Referral (Emergency Eye) clinics as required. The department is very supportive of further extended scope work e.g. pre and post-op cataract assessment, AMD clinics (inc. IVT/injections) etc. We are keen to expand our variety of extended roles. A desire to undertake such roles (with training) would be desirable. The department regularly participates in the training of Pre-registration Optometrists, junior doctors and other staff groups so an interest in, or experience of, work as a clinical educator would be advantageous.
