Provide a high standard of individualised evidence-based care to new and established stoma patients.
Work in both the WHHT and community settings.
Supporting the Senior Stoma Care CNS team in driving quality care provision forward.
Be responsible for assessment, implementation and evaluation of patients who require stoma formation.
Act as a role model, provide support and supervision to nursing staff in all clinical areas to provide the highest standards of evidence-based care.
Contribute to delivering expert- to-nurse teaching programmes to healthcare providers trust wide and, in the community, settings.
Participate in ensuring the surgical ward nurses' stoma care competencies are achieved and maintained.
Contribute to audit/research projects and service development.
Provide clear clinical leadership to staff, deputising for the Senior Stoma Care CNS in their absence.
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Stoma Care team at West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced nurse with an interest in colorectal surgery and stoma care. You will need to be able to work flexibly and collaboratively in a busy team, working in hospital, outpatients, and community settings.
The successful candidate will have the commitment, professionalism, and dedication to make a difference to our patients and help the Stoma Care team achieve the Trust's vision of "Excellent patient care, together".
The successful candidate will have a hands-on, proactive approach to the role and work independently in providing education, information, advice and support to pre-op and post-op stoma patients.
You will also be required to liaise with and work closely with other health care professionals to ensure our patient's needs are met and that care is delivered to a high standard.
Able to manage own clinical caseload.
The candidate needs to be prepared to undertake ongoing professional development to ensure that they are competent to fulfil the role.
Opportunities will be provided to develop your clinical stoma care skills and knowledge.
Once the successful candidate has achieved the required level of competence and stoma care academic qualification, the Band 6 promotion will be considered.
You should be able to demonstrate excellent communication skills with both patients and members of the MDT.
Good IT skills, experience in preparing and presenting teaching sessions, and research audits are also required.
