Full Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join an established team of Children's Complex Care Nurses in Birmingham on a Permanent basis. This is a city wide service that offers personalised specialist nursing support to children & families with a variety of highly complex physical health needs. We provide bespoke commissioned packages of care to children within their own homes, schools and other community locations. The service operates seven days a week and 24 hours a day. If you are an experienced Children's Nurse with excellent clinical skills, have advanced communication abilities you may be who we are looking for to join our busy team. This post will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to develop rewarding therapeutic relationships with children & families in a community setting. Main duties of the job Within this role you will be required to provide training and supervision to other members of the team including health care assistants as well as parents and family members ensuring their competence in meeting the care needs of specific children and young people. This client group has highly complex health needs which include children and young people that are technology dependent requiring invasive ventilation. The Children's Complex Care Team forms part of the wider Specialist Nursing Service which includes Children's Rapid Response, Children's Palliative Care and the Children's Community Nursing Team.   • RSCN / or RN Child Branch
  • Evidence of relevant post related experience / on-going clinical training, and commitment to training.
  • Desirable Teaching / Assessing qualification or equivalent. Experience Essential Experience working with and caring for children with complex health needs. including children who require To require including : -tracheostomy care and / or long term ventilation needs -oxygen therapy, -suction, -enteral feeds etc -catheterisation These skills will be gained by completing competency based training. A qualified nurse will always be available for advice and support via on-call. Experience working with and caring for children with life limited / threatening illnesses. Skills / knowledge Essential Experience working with and caring for children with complex health needs. including children who require To require including : -tracheostomy care and / or long term ventilation needs -oxygen therapy, -suction, -enteral feeds etc -catheterisation These skills will be gained by completing competency based training. A qualified nurse will always be available for advice and support via on-call.
