Full Job Description

The Senior Ophthalmic Technician will provide technical support to the Ophthalmic Services in the Royal Eye Unit Outpatient Department supporting the Nurse practitioners to deliver services Glaucoma clinics. They will be responsible for the professional development of the ophthalmic technicians and Nursing assistants within the team., 1. Provide assessment and recording of visual acuity.
2. Instillation of eye drops as directed by clinical staff.
3. Provide scan images in line with agreed protocols and standard operating procedures.
4. Run Monitoring and Virtual clinics
5. Capture electronic images of ocular structures to include as appropriate: Ocular Coherence Tomography (OCT), Biometry, Fields, Corneal thickness, Fluorescein Angiogram (FFA )/ Indocyanine green (ICG), Fundus photography and OCT optic discs (Glaucoma diagnostics) in
support of wider ophthalmology service developments.
6. Archiving images/extracting images from OCT and FFA/ICG for teaching purposes and research papers.
7. Set up of the unit, including the switching on equipment, reporting any technical problems, as appropriate prior to commencement of clinical activity., The Senior Ophthalmic Technician will provide technical support to the Ophthalmic Services in the Royal Eye Unit Outpatient Department supporting the Nurse practitioners to deliver services Glaucoma clinics.
