Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit a registered nnurse to work and develop their skills within our friendly, supportive Urology team. You will be required to demonstrate commitment to excellent patient experience, in line with the Trust World Class Care Values, and in support of our Urology patients throughout their pathway.

The Urology team at the Royal Free can offer valuable support and development through a wealth of support provided from the senior nursing team, Urology nurse specialists and the Consultant Urologists. This will start with a comprehensive induction and orientation, and continue with access to formal and informal study sessions and development days. There are many interesting opportunities for further career development with renal services at the Royal Free., The post will incorporate the Staff Nurse role dimensions to support the urology outpatient unit. This will acquire assisting mainly with flexible cystoscopy but other workload in general diagnostic urology and prostate biopsies will be co-operated in the role.

The role will include:

Support nursing and medical colleagues in the delivery of specialised patient care in the urology outpatient unit.

The post holder will be expected to liaise appropriately with all key members of the multi-disciplinary team and service users related to the speciality.

To be responsible for all aspects of patient care including the assessment, planning, delivery and evaluation of direct patient care with supervision from senior staff.

To support the Charge Nurse/Senior Sister to monitor the safety and quality of care for patients.

In the absence of the Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to be responsible for the day-to-day management of the unit.

To manage a group of Nursing Assistants and assign delegated tasks and responsibility as appropriate.

To ensure the compliance of mandatory training and appraisal requirements for delegated Nursing Assistants.

To ensure a positive focussed service incorporating patients' feedback to maintain and improve patient care.

To act as an effective role model promoting excellence through practice.
