Ward 14 and day case -B5 post available.

General surgical areas.

Are you passionate about nursing?

An opportunity has arisen on ward 14 and day case surgery at GHH for dynamic innovative and motivated registered nurses who would like the opportunity to work with surgical patients and develop their skills.

Ward 14 is a 29 bedded ward with a mixture of elective and emergency general surgical patients. We are also a step down ward for patients who have required ITU/HDU care. While working on the ward you will have the opportunity to further develop your nursing skills and communication skills liaising with the wider MDT. We actively promote personal development.

Day case -- caters for patients that require smaller surgeries and can be discharged the same day.

Also, while becoming a member of the UHB team, you will have the opportunity to work alongside a skilled dedicated team. With various study days being available within the UHB trust.

Both areas have wider multidisciplinary team and CNS's, such as pain, colorectal etc. who regularly attend the ward/area to review patients and the opportunity to shadow for a day can be arranged.

We encourage staff to take on the role as link nurses in areas that interests you, eg: tissue viability. As a teaching hospital we have regular students attending the ward, you will also mentor students while working at GHH., Complete daily nursing tasks including administration of medication, completing observations and reassurance for patients undergoing or who have gone through surgery.

Demonstrate skills relating to care of complex surgical cases as well as day case surgery cases, including the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team approach to patient care.

Able to cope with complex cases in a busy, fast-paced environment

Provable experience in communicating clearly and at an appropriate level of detail and technical information to patients and their family / carers

Passionate about post-operative care and willing to train.

Willing to assist with development of junior / less experienced staff, including Student Nursing Associates
