Full Job Description

On the oncology treatment suite E1A we also we administer a range of Systemic anticancer treatment (SACT) including ambulatory chemotherapy. We provide supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families throughout a cancer diagnosis. A peripherally inserted central catheter service is also provided. The unit also supports treatment for the teenage and young adult's specialist group (TYA) for Oncology and Haematology Patients., On E1A we care for patients throughout their pathway, undergoing diagnostic, curative and palliative procedures including the management of symptoms related to their treatments or their disease process. We administer Systemic Anti- Cancer Therapies and supportive therapies, supporting patients and their families through their treatment journey. Your role will be varied, and you will be able to gain clinical skills such as triage, cannulation, venepuncture and central line care and SACT administration. If you have cannulation, phlebotomy, or central lines skills it will be an advantage, but if not, then you should have enthusiasm and dexterity to develop these skills.

An exciting opportunity has arisen at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham Chemotherapy Day Unit for band 5 staff. The day unit provides a wide range of treatments for Oncology patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy's (SACT) and supportive therapies. We are seeking to recruit motivated skilled nurses with a minimum of 12 months post registration experience to support our existing chemotherapy nursing team. Chemotherapy experience is preferable but not essential. All training is supported by the SACT Nurse Trainers, the clinical educators, and the education department.
