Full Job Description

Responsible for the assessment of care needs, planning, delivering and evaluating a high standard of nursing/practitioner care.

Contributing to the safe and efficient running of the operating theatre department, through the acceptance of agreed additional responsibilities.

An accomplished communicator able to contribute, implement and evaluate clinical and professional standards.

Initiating and developing evidence based practice ensuring all staff are aware of current issues and changes.

Ensuring the administration and documentation of drugs is in accordance with Trust policy

We are looking NOW for talented staff to form the core team that will be the beating heart of the Hertfordshire and West Essex Surgical Centre being built at St Albans City Hospital and set to open in Spring 2025.

More than 4,000 patients will be seen at the hub each year for non-complex orthopaedic, hip and knee surgery as well as ear, nose and throat procedures and spinal injections. Being separated from emergency services will reduce the risk of short-notice cancellations.

This is a fabulous opportunity to play a key role in a flagship collaborative project between the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust, West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust and Herts and West Essex Integrated Care Board.

The Surgical Centre will focus on Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) standards and will be a highly efficient facility, achieving 85% theatre utilisation and operating sessions over an extended 10-hour day, potential for 6 day working., With a new hospital planned for Watford and work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital, this is an exciting time to join us.
