Previous cardiac catheter lab radiography experience is desirable, but not essential as training will be closely supported by the Practice Development Lead and tailored appropriately. The core service hours are 08:00 - 18:00, as a full time employee you will be working 4 days a week as part of a 7 day working rota and contributing to 24/7 on call service. A free hospital hopper bus, which travels between the LRI and the Glenfield Hospital, is available for all UHL staff., In the role of cath lab radiographer you will be expected to

  • Work closely with cardiologists to provide real time imaging guidance during diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures.
  • Utilise the equipment within the department adhering to national and local protocols relating to the radiation safety of both the patient and the staff.
  • Uphold high standard of patient care ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience throughout the procedure.
  • Collaborate with the multidisciplinary cardiac catheter lab team to optimise workflow efficiency and maintain a patient centred approach in a fast paced environment.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, attending relevant training and conferences to enhance skills and knowledge specific to cardiac catheter lab procedures.
  • Provide guidance to junior staff members, fostering a collaborative and learning-oriented environment within the department.

We are one of the biggest and busiest NHS trusts in the country, incorporating the General, Glenfield and Royal Infirmary hospitals. We have our very own Children's Hospital and run one of the country's leading heart centres.
  • Our team is made up of more than 17,000 staff providing a range of services primarily for the one million residents of Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. We work with our partners at the University of Leicester and De Montfort University providing world-class teaching to nurture and develop the next generation of doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals, many of whom choose to continue their working lives with us. Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030) here at UHL. We have four primary goals:
  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
  • And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities. Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
