The unit specialises in the clinical, short-term management of people who are in an acutely disturbed phase of a serious psychiatric illness and who cannot be safely managed in a general acute setting. We work closely with a gender specific acute unit on site, and are developing a service tailored to male service users.

The team is currently going through a number of changes, including newly built high care de-escalation suite alongside new management team now in post., The role will involve clinically leading and managing a team of staff nurses and healthcare assistants. Supporting the Ward Manager with some operational duties and help develop and maintain clinical standards.

Our team are looking for passionate, highly motivated, experienced registered nurses to work with and lead our team in continuing to develop our service, in line with National Minimum Standards for Psychiatric Intensive Care Services.

We expect at least 3 years post qualification and inpatient experience for applicants., The successful candidate will be RN-Mental Health or RN-Learning Disability trained, with significant experience in Psychiatric Intensive Care, Learning Disabilities/challenging behaviour, Acute Inpatient Nursing, Place of Safety, and or Crisis Home Treatment.

You will be able to demonstrate a capacity for clinical excellence, have a high level of emotional resilience, and be able to support the ward with developing and enhancing services.

We are keen to develop our nurses, so training opportunities will be available and supported. Rotational posts would also be considered to those wanting to experience working in different settings.
