Full Job Description

Our busy Children's Department covers two sites - Queens Hospital in Romford and King George's Hospital in Ilford. We deliver a comprehensive range of general medical and surgical services to our local population and have two inpatient wards, one with a co-located 4 bedded HDU, a day unit with a POSCU and haematology service, two outpatients' departments with a GP 'hot clinic', a team of Clinical Nurse Specialists and a Children's Community Nursing team. We know it takes happy, motivated staff to produce patient satisfaction, so we're investing in making our hospitals great places to work. It's about living our values: Passion, Responsibility, Innovation, Drive and Empowerment - the PRIDE at the heart of all we do. Applications are then invited for a Band 6 nurse within The Child Health Department. The successful candidate must have excellent communication skills, an ability to work as part of the multi-disciplinary team and have a positive attitude to service developments. So, The post holder will act as a role model and provide leadership in the clinical area and will be responsible for overseeing service delivery and team support in the children's outpatient's department and children's day care unit. They will be responsible in education and supervision of staff as coordinated with the Children's Practice Development Nurse. To demonstrate advanced clinical specialist skills to provide the highest standard of individualised evidence-based patient centred care while supervising the work of others. To expect to take charge on shift if required and to supervise and co-ordinate other staffs as appropriate develops self and others professionally.

if you are enthusiastic, dynamic, and a highly motivated individual who is committed, caring and compassionate come and join our fantastic team. Your professional development will be encouraged and supported.

We're an organisation that is getting better and better. We were the most improved Trust in England for A&E performance in 2023/24; we're no longer in special measures; and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, has been named the top CEO by the Health Service Journal. Our improvements are driven by a determination to deliver care we're proud of and that our patients are happy with.

Many of our 8,000 staff - who come from 146 different countries - live in the three diverse London boroughs we serve and the majority are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups. More than 400 of them are on apprenticeship programmes and we're proud to be a London Living Wage employer.

We operate from two main sites - King George Hospital (KGH) in Goodmayes and Queen's Hospital in Romford. We have two of the busiest emergency departments in London - more than 300,000 people visited our A&Es in 2023.

Patients across north east London are benefitting from two new state of the art theatres at KGH and our Community Diagnostic Centres at Barking Community Hospital and St George's Health and Wellbeing Hub will significantly increase the number of scans that can be carried out.

We're looking forward to introducing an electronic patient record next year. This will mean the records of any patient visiting one of the seven hospitals run by BHRUT and Barts Health will be accessible to the clinical teams. It'll make things easier for staff and will be better for patients.
