Main duties of the job We currently have a Band 6 Community Mental Health Practitionervacancy at Departmentof Community Mental Health (DCMH), Bulford. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinaryteam (MDT) setting to provide a specialised / occupational mental health servicefor all Service and entitled personnel within the Department of CommunityMental Health (DCMH) area of responsibility (AOR) and the Defence PrimaryHealthcare (DPHC) Region as required. The post holder will have experience ofworking in adult community mental healthcare. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your existing knowledgeand skill to a new delivery setting which includes use of remote videoconsultation.   • Providing Mental Health assessment, risk assessment andformulation of the mental health and treatment needs for referred patients;acting as care-coordinator. Provide recommendations for maintaining maximalemployment, applying an occupational health matrix.
  • Initiating and participating in regular clinical supervision, caseconferences / professionals' meetings where mental health clinical input isrequired. Present patients to the MDT for guidance, support, supervision andtraining.
  • Acting as a clinical resource and liaise with MedicalOfficers / General Practitioners (MO / GP) and offer advice to Unit Commanders onmental health matters, the administrative management of personnel with mentalhealth difficulties and mental health promotion.
  • Participating in Healthcare Governance processes to ensuremaintenance of DCMH obligations to continuing CQC inspections and Safe andEffective Practise. There may be additional secondary clinical roles to assistthe teams delivery of this but will not detract from the main focus ofdelivering assessment and therapy directly to patients.
  • Communicating, where appropriate, on occupational informationdirectly with service persons chain of command whilst respecting the principlesof patient confidentiality (Caldicott).

    Registered Mental Health Nurse or graduate level professional with background in mental health; substantial post-qualification training and experience in at least 2 evidence based psychological therapies and accredited or eligible for accreditation from a recognised body (BABCP, BACP, UKCP) OR Registered Mental Health Nurse with a demonstrable experience working at Band 5 or above. Experience of working in a Community Mental Health setting. Demonstrable experience of using NICE recommended psychological interventions OR Must possess a Postgraduate / Graduate certificate in evidence based psychological treatments with demonstrable experience in a community mental health role.
