Full Job Description

We are looking to recruit two highly motivated Band 6 Dental Nurse Managers to full time permanent positions, one based at Birmingham Dental Hospital and one based in Birmingham Community Dental Services. This role will include responsibility for the management and development of all support staff to ensure smooth running of the Service. As a Dental Nurse Manager you will be able to demonstrate good leadership skills, ability to manage change in clinical practice and processes. You will also be able to demonstrate the ability to independently make sound clinical and leadership judgment and regularly supervise the workload of junior colleagues. We are looking for an individuals who are innovative, forward thinking, flexible and have strong leadership qualities. The post holder will work in close collaboration with the Dental Matrons, Service Mangers, Group Managers, Group Clinical Managers, Clinicians and Heads of Services. Please refer to the enclosed job description and person, To work flexibly within a dental team providing high quality care to a wide spectrum of patients across localities within the integrated Dental Service [BDH, CDS and mobile clinics and/or additional external sites] as required to be the conduit for service-wide communication for certain specialities or a locality. This includes attendance at meetings on behalf of the Dental Matron.

Responsible for the ordering of equipment and stock ensuring efficient control of levels within one locality or certain specialities by vetting all orders and maintaining commitment accounting system. Support the Clinical Leads, Divisional Director of Nursing and Therapies, Heads of Service and Dental Matron in the financial management of the service.

Participate in the management and improvement of an integrated Dental Service to include the development of policies and protocols as appropriate.

Manage Dental Nurses and support staff at all grades including staff appraisal and development and identification of training needs. Co-ordinate post qualification training of Dental support staff.
