UK NEQAS Blood Transfusion and Laboratory Practice (BTLP) is seeking an EQA Scientist, and we strongly encourage applications from Biomedical Scientists (BMSs) competent in transfusion testing.
This role is ideal for BMS professionals with hands-on transfusion testing experience and familiarity with a range of laboratory transfusion technologies and troubleshooting skills.
Our Transfusion team is a close-knit group of six, primarily with BMS backgrounds, working within a larger unit of around 30 colleagues, which also includes UK NEQAS Haematology.
You'll have opportunities to attend transfusion conferences, keeping up to date with developments in the field.
We are based in a modern, custom-designed facility in Croxley Business Park, Watford, with amenities such as an on-site gym, childcare facilities, free parking, and a shuttle service from local train stations.

Main duties of the job
Laboratory work is phasic and depends on the needs of the service from day to day; approximately half your time will be spent in the laboratory and the other half in the office. Training will be provided in all aspects of EQA.
The normal hours for this post are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30, however, part-time working of at least 30 hours per week would be considered.
UK NEQAS BTLP is a small team, and all members are expected to contribute to planning, laboratory work, and troubleshooting.
The post requires an ability to adapt to changes at short notice and to work closely within a team to find solutions to problems in a collaborative way to meet deadlines., + Leading in the laboratory testing of exercise material including blood grouping, antibody screening and identification, antibody titration, phenotyping, and acid elution and flow cytometry for FMH.
+ Leading in preparation and bottling of Blood Transfusion Survey material.
+ Contributes to data analysis and drafting of reports.
+ Provide advice and information to participants.
+ Participating in exercise and schedule planning.
